I am a Brisbane based
artist primarily working with painting and pastel drawings.
I graduated from the Queensland University of Technology with a
Bachelor of Built Environment (Interior Design) and balance my
practice with
digital 3D architectural illustration
work.
I primarily make realist paintings and drawings that document
the beauty and contrasts of the natural environment. I
am also interested in the depiction of water and the ability of
a still image to capture the ephemeral play of light and shadow
on its surface.
I am particularly interested in creating works that play with
depth and perspective. As an artist concerned with
accurate representation, I always work to create highly detailed
images, but at the same time I attempt to distort the rules of
conventional composition by playing with unusual angles and
altered imagery. I like to disorient the viewer's
perception of reality. At times the results can reflect a
surreal influence - these works use vivid colour and fantastical
imagery to play with the conventions of landscape painting and
provide a new take on a traditional genre.
